We saw a glimpse of the true desperation in pro-abortion advocates when President Trump announced his nomination for the Supreme Court, but nothing compares to the hysterical lunacy they present when anyone dares to target their beloved Planned Parenthood’s federal funding.
On April 16, the Planned Parenthood Action Fund (PPAF) announced they, along with several other left-leaning organizations, will be contributing $30 million to the upcoming midterm elections. This statement has conservatives, once again, demanding the government stop Planned Parenthood’s taxpayer funding.
Die-hard supporters of the abortion giant have been quick to point out PPAF is entirely backed by donations and not taxpayer dollars. The question still remains: if Planned Parenthood receives enough donation money to contribute millions in the political arena, why do they need taxpayer funding? The answer is simple, they do not. Realistically, they never have.
The purpose of government funding for healthcare clinics is to ensure said clinics are able to provide all necessary services with efficient and effective equipment. Since its conception, Planned Parenthood has managed to drive their government funding up to $500 million annually.
Yet, even with these excessive funds, their condoms are one of the worst brands currently circulating on the market. Their pregnancy tests are no better quality than those you would find on a pharmacy shelf, and they only provide a 14.5% of cancer screenings, which includes prevention methods (breast exams, pap smears etc).
They do not provide mammograms because they cannot provide machines at all their facilities, a fact which led to a great deal of controversy back in 2015 when Live Action released a video of Planned Parenthood’s former President Cecile Richards contradicting herself in multiple interviews where she stated her organization did provide this service.
Providing mammograms is not the only lie Planned Parenthood has been caught in. Throughout their decades in existence, the abortion giant has been involved in numerous scandals, beginning with their founder Margaret Sanger. Sanger was a known racist and strong eugenics advocate.
In the early 1900s she launched The Negro Project in attempts to “tame” the ever-growing black population. The scandal of racism and classism would follow Planned Parenthood into the present day. A quick look at a layout of Planned Parenthood locations shows they still target low income areas and black neighborhoods. Unfortunately, Planned Parenthood’s victims are not limited to social class or race.
In Planned Parenthood’s most recent disgrace, they were caught covering up rape and the sexual abuse of minors. A report by Alliance Defending Freedom, a nonprofit law firm, collected a record of cases dating back decades in which Planned Parenthood failed to properly report sexual abuse. These cases involved girls as young as 12 years of age, some who had visited Planned Parenthood multiple times.
The evidence invites the question: why is Planned Parenthood still receiving federal funding? Perhaps an even more important question would be, why do they still have so many defenders and why are so many of these defenders self-proclaiming feminists?
Planned Parenthood is as anti-woman as an organization can be. Not only do they neglect women in need, they intentionally side with abusers to cover up assault and profit off of women’s vulnerability.
The time has come to stop allowing Planned Parenthood to hide behind its lies and left-leaning politicians who allow them to go unchecked. Defunding Planned Parenthood is long overdue.
