Shariah was pregnant—and scared.

The 19-year-old young woman had just learned that she was carrying a child. She knew she wanted to keep the baby, but everyone in her life was telling her to get an abortion. Including the baby’s father.

Shariah was soon kicked out of her home. With her situation growing increasingly dire, she knew she needed help. That’s when she found Unplanned Stories, a pro-life nonprofit organization.

Connecting with founder Loren Ward, Shariah became the recipient of a baby registry funded by pro-lifers around the nation. But that wasn’t all. Shariah also received a special package of letters from pro-lifers around the country, affirming her decision to choose life. This was part of the Unplanned Stories’ Letters of Hope initiative.

Shariah was encouraged as she read through the letters. Each sentence had been crafted with care in order to soothe her heart. With an unsupportive family and friends who did not understand the path she had chosen to walk, Shariah desperately needed to read the affirmations of truth found in these letters.

Soon afterward, Shariah gave birth to a beautiful baby daughter. Today, she is working to create a better future for her family.

Shariah is just one of the mothers that Letters of Hope has impacted. With a group of over 60 “Hope Messengers” who write letters to mothers in need, the initiative has used the power of the written word to change lives.

Letters of Hope partners with pregnancy centers and pro-life organizations that directly serve women in need. Letters are free of cost to all partners. After reaching out to Letters of Hope to establish a partnership, partner organizations reach out on behalf of individual clients they serve.

Both individual pro-lifers and groups can choose to become a Hope Messenger and write letters. The first step is filling out the simple contact form. Following that, a Hope Messenger can join the Letters of Hope Instagram or Facebook groups. As needs for letter-writers arise, those in the groups will be informed.
