Today, after a hearing lasting only a few minutes, a District Court Judge granted the injunction on Iowa’s heartbeat bill which will prevent any enforcement of the law until the ongoing lawsuit is resolved.
The state’s attorneys from the public interest law firm, the Thomas More Society, raised no objections to the ruling.
On May 4th, Governor Kim Reynolds of Iowa signed a “heartbeat bill,” protecting children in the womb from abortion once their heartbeat can be heard, which for most pregnancies is 6 weeks.
In response, Planned Parenthood of the Heartland and the ACLU of Iowa filed for the injunction to block the law and a lawsuit to overturn it.
Join us in prayer for the lawsuit to fail and the life-affirming heartbeat law to go into effect as scheduled.
