“The Supreme Court is the judicial institution that shattered American history with the 1973 Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton decisions legalizing abortion on-demand through all nine months of pregnancy. It is long past time to restore justice to the most vulnerable among us, and a pro-life majority on the Supreme Court is crucial to that calling.

We invite all Americans to join us in daily prayer for President Trump to nominate a judge who will prioritize the preborn child most deserving of a just and prudent majority on the Supreme Court of the United States.” – Brian Fisher, President of Human Coalition

With an empty seat to fill on the Supreme Court bench, it seems our country has been given a second chance to reverse the wrongs of our past. As pro-life individuals, we cannot sit idly by and allow “fate to happen.” We must be active in the persuasion of this nomination; not just in the physical realm, but also in the spiritual.

We must be praying our President nominates someone who is undoubtedly pro-life, who will preserve each human’s unalienable, God-given right to life. Life is hanging in the balance and we must beg the ear of God to forgive our sins as a nation and allow us to repent, and a pro-life Supreme Court nomination is a step in this direction.

“It’s important to pray because abortion is, at its core, a spiritual battle between good and evil. We have to pray before, during, and after our endeavors in the pro-life movement. God is on our side, and He gave us a mandate in Scripture to act justly by rescuing ‘those being taken away to death’ (Prov. 24:11, NASB).

Therefore it is incumbent upon us as pro-life Christians to pray for just leaders who will recognize the human rights of all humans, born and preborn.” -Fisher

Praying for the next Supreme Court nominee to be specifically pro-life has a three-fold purpose:

  1. That person will help set the vote on the bench in favor of overturning Roe v. Wade and other rulings which sided with the pro-abortion agenda.
  2. That person will help ensure the bench listens to future pro-life cases, from abortion to assisted suicide, and will also contribute to the bench protecting the value of life at all stages.
  3. That person will have an understanding of the sanctity of life which will give them a basis for ruling justly on every issue, regardless of agenda.

“Failure to pray is a failure to recognize that the only source of our victory in this battle between good and evil is God. We pray for the nomination of a pro-life justice because the Supreme Court has repeatedly sided with the oppressive abortion industry, and it’s forty-five years past time for the Supreme Court to take the first step toward restoring justice to the oppressed.” – Fisher

As Fisher states, neglecting our duty to pray for this nomination would be the rejection of the power of God. How can we ask God to bless our country if we ignore our obligation to pray for our leaders (1 Tim. 2:1-2)?

The fate of future lives may be resting on this nomination, and we have a moral burden to pray God will give us a judge who regards life as precious. Just as Daniel begged God to have mercy on the children of Israel, we should come before God on behalf of our country. Will you join us in lifting your voice to God asking Him to direct President Trump in nominating a pro-life judge?

“Father, we pray that the next Supreme Court justice values human life just as You do.” – Rev. Sean Martin, Human Coalition’s National Church Outreach Director
